What Is a Home Inspection
Hi! I’m Chris.
I’m Chris Lynch, owner/operator of Reliable Home Inspections. I am a Certified Master Inspector and a member of InterNACHI, International Association of Certified Home Inspectors. I’ve been performing home inspections, as well as meth testing, radon testing and mold testing, for over seven years. I decided to start this blog to not only document some of the things going on in the world of home inspections, but also to give tips to homeowners and real estate agents in Utah – specifically Salt Lake, Utah, Tooele, Davis, Weber and Summit counties.
Since this is our first blog post I figured we should ask the question:
What is a Home Inspection?
To answer this question, and to save time, I’m going to post a flyer from a few years ago:
While this flyer does define what a home inspection is, it doesn’t tell the whole story. A home inspection can offer some degree of peace of mind for a homeowner. It can give the new homeowner an idea of possible future maintenance. They can be used as a tool to negotiate repairs or price points for a real estate transaction. A home inspection can help protect real estate agents and it could be used to negotiate with a home warranty company.
I have plans to cover meth, mold and radon testing in greater detail in future blogs. I just wanted to mention that we offer them and to let new home buyers know that the cost to get these tests far outweigh the cost to mitigate them.
